The son continu festival offers its most beautiful surroundings to dancers and groups of musicians: the castle’s main courtyard. On the collaborative stage, sounded by our friends from the Chnut collective, bands of all sorts will take turns playing by day and by night. There will be over 30 hours of dancing in 4 days, a vast wooden floor and a place to rest with a view over the typical Berry countryside. Seven different bands will be featured in the midnight ball and the final ball.

Balls

Thursday, 13th July

00h00 : BOUGNAT SOUND – Auvergne (Central French mountain range)

Julien Barbances (cabrette, typical backpipe, violin, song), Loïc Etienne (diatonic accordions) and Olivier Sulpice (banjo) give us a taste of the Auvergnat repertoire, in their very own « Bougnat Sound » style.

02h00 : LES FRERES LAINE (Center France)

The Frères Lainé band weaves mazurkas, scottish dances, bourrées (French folk dances) and polkas with clarinets, dulcimers, guitars and concertinas… The Frères Lainé are inspired composers and talented musicians who enchant us with their music and will lead us to dance till we reach ecstasy.

Friday, 14th July

00h00 : LE GROS TRIO (Center France)

This trio is composed of Lucas Thébaut who plays diatonic accordion, Benoît Roblin on the hurdy-gurdy and Cyril Berthet on the flute give its vitality to the traditional Berrichon music and dances. Traditional tunes, compositions by Gaston Pommier and Gaston Rivière, quotes by George Sand inspire this repertoire that is enriched by their own arrangements and jocular style.

02h00 : FABURDEN (South-Western France)

Faburden’s identity comes from the traditional music of Gascony, as much as from modern-day music, rock and various musical experiments. The result is a good music to dance to, that is at once deeply-rooted, magmatic and in constant movement. The artists take traditional instruments such as hurdy-gurdy, violin, local Gascony Landes bagpipes and mix them with the drums and a peculiar approach to sound to create a timeless type of music, that sounds very ancient and very modern at the same time.

Saturday, 15th July

00h00 : ORMUZ (Québec)

Listening to Ormuz in a ball is like taking a trip to Quebec, between call and response dances to the rhythm of the feet and the irresistible tempo of devilish reels. Vocals take center stage showcasing the diversity of this band’s peculiar singing technique which is the base of their creativity in the field of traditional music

02h00 : BEAT BOUET TRIO (Breton Hip-Hop)

Three « garciers » for a sound that wavers between traditional dances from Britanny and hip-hop. Imagine…A breton ball, mixed with US rap, influenced by raggamuffin from the ‘80s, with committed texts, that is something worth seeing, isn’t it ? Vanao plays the accordeon, T Burt is the human beat box and Faya Gur will do the vocals, leading a « hip-hopular » ball that subverts the codes and bridges the generation gap.

Sunday, July 16th

20h30 : THE FIRESTARTERS OF LEIDEN (England)

For the grand finale, Nigel Eaton, David Shepherd and Simon Gielen, who compose the trio The Firestarters of Leiden are going to treat you to a musical feast with their bourrées, scottish and other waltzes in the English style !
This ball will be followed by a collaborative acoustic jam.
